MOTIVES COSMETICS | PRODUCTS & PRICES

Hey there Everyone!

Been away the past week with no access to the world wide web, so took it as a sign for a mini 'cyber-break'. Hope you all had a lovely Easter break and thank God for the peaceful presidential election that was held, praying the same happens this weekend for the second round of elections.

Ok, so the feedback I got from this post is what spurred me on to type-up this one. Most of the time we know about a makeup brand, want to try something out from said brand but not sure what exactly to get. With these posts I just share a few products from the brand and let you decide if you would like to try them out. Some of the products I have used and can provide a detailed review on and even recommend, some I am still trying out and can give you my thoughts so far, and others I have only swatched.

Today I will be sharing products from Motives by Loren Ridinger. Motives cosmetics started in 2008 by Loren Ridinger to provide women around the world with the highest quality cosmetics at affordable prices. I will say that social media played a HUGE role in generating awareness for this brand.

Motives by Loren Ridinger 'Boxed Beauty' Palette - N7,500*
I'll start off the with the products I have only swatched or used just a couple times, then work my way through to those I've used more than a few times. This palette I have used just a couple times.

I haven't got round to using all the shades, but I will say some are more pigmented than others. Most of the shadows are also duo-chrome, so you see that purple shade, bottom-right, when applied it's a purple base with green & yellow duo-chrome.

Motives by Loren Ridinger false Eyelashes '112' - N1,700*
I haven't worn these lashes yet. They don't come with the lash-glue (who uses those anyway? Duo glue ladies, Duo glue, thank me later). These will provide very natural lash enhancements, not what I'd typically go for. I'm more for the drama, but these will be good to pop on to work, when I don't feel like coating my natural lashes with mascara.

Motives by Loren Ridinger Color Perfection Quad Cream Foundation 'Light' - N7,700*

This foundation palette, I haven't touched yet.

Motives by Loren Ridinger Perfecting Face Primer - N4,500*
I have been using this primer almost everyday since I got it. And I think I like it! It looks like a gel, but once applied dissolves into a powder like finish. It definitely smoothes out your face, will have to provide a more detailed review on this in terms of keeping your foundation in place. But, so far so good for me!

Motives by Loren Ridinger Eye Base - N3,100*
I love love love this eyeshadow primer! The texture is completely different from all the other shadow primers I've got (Urban Decay primer potion, MAC's 'Soft Ochre' Paint Pot, Maybelline Color Tattoo etc.), as most of them have a paste-like/sticky texture. This primer has got a powdery-smooth texture. It's definitely a cream in the pot, but once applied it's dissolves to a powder-like texture and I like this as it's easier to blend.

My other primers are equally as good, but their texture makes them a little difficult to blend, and you need to work fast, because once they dry they just STICK! This just glides on and stops my shadow from creasing. This shade of primer also helps to enhance whatever eyeshadow you choose to apply, except really dark shades of course.

Motives by Loren Ridinger Gel Eyeliner 'Little Black Dress' - N3,500*
Ok, so since I recommended the Inglot AMC gel liner in #77 to you guys, it's been sold out in Lagos. At the time I published the post they also did not have it in stock. So anyways, I have been looking for an alternative and I believe this 'Little Black Dress' gel liner might be it.

At first, I'll be honest I really did not think it could come close to Inglot's #77 AMC Gel liner, I just didn't think it was as black and honestly, I still don't. I will need to swatch them next to each other to be sure, I may be biased. I will be sharing a full review and comparison in a post very very very soon! But one thing I do know is that the texture is ever-so-slightly better than Inglot's. You see Inglot's tends to start getting dry a little too early in the game, I'm talking a few weeks. And that was why I shared Duraline with you guys, it's a must have in my opinion, especially if you've got the gel liner. Little Black Dress, hasn't shown any signs of dryness since I got it, about 4weeks ago. It's still very buttery-smooth and easy to apply. Like I said, I will have a full review up very soon. I like to be a 100% sure before I make recommendations, but if you still want to give it a go before you read my review, I ain't stopping ya! Not like it's terrible or nothing.

I really just wanted this post to be more pictures and less words, but that didn't happen. Hope this wasn't too lengthy for you guys!

What other Motives Cosmetics products would you recommend?

  1. The House of lashes lash glue is wayyy better than Duo lash glue. You don't have to wait for it to get tacky. Great post

    1. Oooh really? Have to try it out, because the wait can be annoying. Although I just busy myself with some other makeup application while it gets tacky
