HAIRFINITY - My Experience

Hello there my lovelies!

You all know I am on a hair journey and I have been taking EXTREMELY good care of my hair. I am not so bothered about the length at this stage, more about the overall health and volume.

I do have a few problem areas and had noticed that growth in those areas were a little stunted, so when a picture of Kim Kardashian holding a bottle of Hairfinity came up on my instagram feed, I thought to give it a go.

I must admit, I did not do any research AT ALL on Hairfinity, and this was a conscious decision. I had heard the numerous side effects, especially with breakouts, and this did put me off a little but not completely.

Dosage
So the recommended dose is two pills a day, I decided to start off easy with 1 pill a day, at night. I decided to take it at night because I just felt like it will work better while my body is resting, dunno.... go figure!

Side Effects?
Anyways so I started off on it, first week didn't feel different or anything, but week 2 was when the madness started. I slowly started breaking out on my forehead, just a few tiny spots here and there and then they started spreading. It wasn't terrible, like I-Can't-Leave-My-House terrible, but when you go from having the occasional hormonal breakout (which is just a small pimple on the forehead or chin) to full-on minions all over your forehead, I think it's reason enough to panic.

Did I stop? Of course not! I thought I'd just up my water intake even more and it'll get better. Mind you, one thing you MUST do is drink at least 2Litres of water a day while you're on these. So I was already doing that and more but it did not seem to ease up. OMG guys, and THEN my scalp started itching soooo bad. Like itchiiiiiiing, it was the strangest thing. I didn't even realise it was the Hairfinity until someone commented on instagram that it made her scalp itch like hell! And I thought "Aha! so that was the reason". Enough was enough, I stopped taking them.

Yes guys, I quit! I am a Hairfinity-Quitter! It just was not worth it to me anymore, I think my breaking point was when the breakouts began to occur right along my hairline. I was was like "Naaaaah, it's not that serious". They were concentrated around my forehead and temple area, nothing happened on my cheeks, chin etc..

Did It Work?
Now I really have a hard time answering this honestly, even to myself. The thing with me is, I usually have a lot of things going on around the same time for me to like pinpoint what's really working. Take for example with my skincare, I could start using a new cleanser and then a few days later incorporate a charcoal mask once a week, fast forward a few weeks, my skin looks amazing... and I can't tell if it's the cleanser or the mask!! That's exactly what happened here I upped my water intake a couple months before I started taking Hairfinity, I started using a porosity correction conditioner which really helped in letting my hair benefit from the deep-conditioning treatments, and I also incorporated Jamaican Black Castor Oil into my hair routine every night. So, I can't tell you if the difference in my hair was from Hairfinity or these other changes, or even both :s

My hair did get 'fuller', like I could not believe the changes I saw when I had it relaxed a couple weeks ago, but I'm not completely sure it was solely down to Hairfinity. My last relaxer was on the 25th Of January, 2014 and my next was just a couple weeks ago, 31st May, 2014 (an 18-week stretch), and between this time I incorporated all the hair changes I mentioned above.

Where to Buy
The Beauty Boon
Price: N 5,800

I bought mine off The Beauty Boon, but I did receive an email last month from Hairfinity inviting me to the launch in Nigeria. So they are now officially in the country, but I have not got any information on their distributors.

The Madness
What's 'the madness' you ask? I might MIGHT go back to taking them later on.... Can't even believe I am typing this because the scars from the breakouts haven't even cleared up! It won't be for a few months, or maybe never... I don't know. But I didn't chuck them in the bin so you never know.

Now with that being said, I want to hear from you guys that have tried Hairfinity.... Did you breakout? Did you power through the breakouts, did they stop after a while? If you had no side effects at all, I'd also like to hear from you,

What's your Hairfinity Experience?

Laters,

Ez xxX

  3. My question is, did you try this product for at least 30 days? it could be that the ingredient activated allergic reaction that is already in your system or it could just be a response to a foreign product that you introduced to your body. Pills/tabs/capsules take a minute to absorb in the body and places like skin, hair and nails are the last area to reap the benefit of actions since we dont have much blood vessels in these areas (sorry for getting all scientific lol) I was thinking of buying this product but too but i decided against it because nothing i use will pull my hair out of its follicles for length increment, but it has good reviews and a lot of celebs are endorsing it, however people have different physiologic conditions that will make them react differently.

    1. Too big a risk, IMO. Acne's a b*tch to handle. Slightly longer hair isn't worth it. Plus itchy scalp? Not sexy. JBCO and you're good to go. ;)

  5. I tried this too for more than three weeks and I experienced severe itching on my scalp that made me stop taking it. However after i stopped taking it I started breaking out (almost immediately) badly. I am so back to square one with my skin care regime again. I am not trying any of these hair growth pills again. I think it messed with my hormones, plus I suffer from PCOS, so this might not be a good thing for women like me. On the positive side, I got over half an inch hair growth on after the three weeks.

  7. Why don't you just use biotin pils? They are good for skin, hair and nails. I've been taking them for about a year now and I've experienced significant growth and thickness in my hair and nails. I can't say much about my skin cause I naturally have good skin ( thankfully). By yea you should try biotin.

  8. I heard about these pills but I had already bought the GNC ultranourish hair ones Jen of justgrowalready.com mentioned in a post. Honestly though, while I can go through the stress of spending a whole day henna-ing my hair...pills are a chore!

  10. Hi Ez! I'm also a hairfinity quitter. I have tried it 3 times and each time same thing happened until the last time, when I decided to ignore the acne and keep taking the pills. I lasted 3 weeks and the acne I experienced I do not wish on my enemy. I drank loads of water and even took vit b complex as a die hard, but to no avail. At the end of the day, I gave up. I had to spend money going to the spa, had several treatments for my acne and now, three months later, my skin is still not so clear. So I would say to those that are acne prone, stay away from hair vitamins. Biotin does the same thing to me so can't try them. At the moment I am Perfectil hair skin and nails plus which I am finding much better for my skin. I am not sure it works but if it can help reduce breakage and shedding I am all for it, as my hair grows pretty fast, just retaining length is a bother......lovely blog!

  11. I think they do great things for your hair, the ingredients are all aimed at hair growth, thickness and shine. I havent tried them mainly because I did research on the pills in january and decided to take normal biotin pills. And biotin works wonders for your hair and especially your nails. Its not great for length of hair, but shine and thickness is defintely noticeable. so try a low dosage of biotin for a few months and increase the strength as you go along.

  17. After reading up on all the side effects for hairfinity, i decided to opt for manetabolism which i got for N5,500 from www.hairsage.com. I'm on my second bottle and the growth has been amazing. I get more than an inch since i started using it. The beauty about it is I haven't experienced breakouts or painful acne. It's been smooth sailing compared to my friend who used hairfinity and ended up with acne.

    1. Hmm, this is interesting, Ada. I've never heard of Manetabolism before now. I may actually look into that one.

Ez, thanks for sharing. Sorry for your experience! Itchy scalp is the worst, yo. Pelee. A few years back I took pure biotin and it also caused lots of breakouts all over my face (which is why I stopped using it after only 3 weeks). Since then I've been super skeptical of any of these hair growth pills because I'm sure they must have a high dose of biotin in them, which would cause the same side effects. Smh.
