EZ SKINCARE TIPS | HOW I EXFOLIATE MY SKIN

The last time I talked about exfoliation on my blog was 3-4years ago, here & here! Can you imagine, have I really been blogging that long??!! Anyways, not much has changed since then, I still exfoliate my body twice a week, but I feel like a bit of an 'expert' at it now and thought to update you on my routine. I now use 3 different scrubs to exfoliate different parts of my body, because if I don't complicate things who will?? lol... No, but seriously keep reading and you will find out why.

I am loving these scrubs by Nectar at the moment,  all-natural and hand-made. How I use my scrubs is, I wet my entire body from the shoulders down and then I work the scrub in sections on my body. Starting from the legs, thighs and working my way up. When using scrubs, you'd need to be patient so you make the most out of it and avoid waste. So work in sections, using a little hand-full at a time to reduce waste, and take your time, this is supposed to be a pamper session, so I suggest you indulge on the weekend or something.

Nectar Scrub 'Coco For Tara' - N3,000*

This scrub is 'wet', it comes soaked in essential oils. I love how this feels on my skin, I work this into my skin in circular motions until it dissolves then I move on to another section.

Nectar Scrub 'Lolly Lavender' - N3,000*

This scrub isn't soaked in essential oils but it's nice and smooth on the skin. When this is worked into the skin it dissolves into a cream-like texture which I found very interesting. I love the scent and it is very soothing and calming to the skin.

This final step in my routine may seem a bit 'extra', but it's a necessity for me. Once I am done exfoliating with either of the scrubs, I rinse off and then go over my entire body using regular soap and exfoliating mitts. I do this to get rid of that 'film' that's leftover after rinsing the scrub off. Most of these scrubs have been created to leave your skin feeling moisturised right after, this is what I described as the 'film', and personally I prefer not to have this. So going over my skin very gently with the mitts, helps get this off.

Blushed By Cocoa Coconut Scrub (sample size) & Ajali Vanilla & Lime Lip Scrub

I got the sample-sized body scrub in a goodie bag from an event and I thought the size would be perfect to use as a Hand scrub. Yes, you read that right I exfoliate my hands separately and I do this every other day. I just incorporated it into my face cleansing routine, once I'm done cleansing my face at night, I apply the scrub to my hands, work it in and then rinse off. There are scrubs created specifically to exfoliate your hands, but I find body scrubs work just as good. Then I also exfoliate my lips using the Ajali lip scrub, and I do that twice a week.

Exfoliation is commonly known as one of the most important techniques to achieve healthy and glowing skin. You are basically getting rid of dead skin cells, which your body naturally sheds but think of this as aiding the process. I am a firm believer in exfoliating the skin and can vouch that you will start to notice a difference after doing this regularly over a period of time.

In my next post I will share what I do after I exfoliate, so look out for that!

AJALI HANDMADE NATURALS | SHOWROOM & SPA LAUNCH EVENT

Like I mentioned in this post, I was invited to attend the launch of the Ajali Handmade Naturals showroom and spa this past weekend. Every single product sold in this store is 100% Natural and Handmade! We are truly blessed on this side of the world, that such products are readily available for us to buy. The international skincare industry literally fall over themselves for products that are 'organic' or 'natural' and these are usually the most expensive on the market. And here we are in Lagos, surrounded by numerous indigenous businesses selling these 100% natural skincare products & oils.

Full Product List & Prices for Ajali Handmade Naturals

They've got products that can be used on the skin and hair. They haven't got an expansive range of products, but I am pretty sure they will be adding more to their product line as the company grows. And I actually don't hate the fact they haven't got a huge range of products, because that way they can maintain their 'handmade' touch and produce extremely good quality products. Quality over quantity for me, any day! Even with their current product range, they seem to have covered all the basics: Body Scrubs, Butters (Soufflés) & Polishes, Face Masks & Oils, Oil Blends, Lip Balms & Scrubs and Konjac Sponges. Isn't it so convenient that they displayed the prices of everything they sell, and I thought to share them with you guys since that's usually the most important information to know once you've decided you like what a brand is offering.

I love love love their clean, no-fuss packaging, it's all about letting the products speak for themselves!

I picked up a bottle of their Vitamin E Facial Oil and a Lip Scrub. I had a random breakout on either side of my jaw area last month and I want to see if the Vitamin E oil will help reduce the appearance, of the scars they left behind, so I'll definitely let you know how that goes. I was also very pleasantly surpised to see that they also had Rosehip Oil. A couple years ago my friend and I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find Rosehip oil in Lagos, good to know we can now re-purchase from Ajali when we run out !

LAGOS EVENTS | AJALI NATURALS SHOWROOM & SPA LAUNCH!

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to let you in on a launch event that's happening this weekend. Ajali Handmade Naturals is a brand I reviewed on the blog two years ago! Up until I typed this post I didn't realize how long ago that was, and also how long the brand has been around. I am always inspired when I see a brand grow from strength to strength and now they are gearing up to launch their own showroom and spa!

Ajali is an award-winning, Nigerian cosmetics range developed by blogger and beauty enthusiast Ifeyinwa Ojekwe in 2013. The range, which includes moisturisers, scrubs, hair and skincare products, is made completely made by hand using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.  But AJALI is so much more than just a cosmetics brand, they promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage people to embrace and accept themselves for who they are.

Over the past few years, AJALI has developed a niche fan base by selling on their website and select retailers in addition to participating at countless exhibitions, fairs and health and wellness events. And on Sunday November 1 2015, AJALI will be opening the doors to their very own Showroom & Spa at 11B Tokunbo Omisore (Off Wole Olateju by Avalon House) Lekki Phase One. The store will be the first of it’s kind in Nigeria to specialise in the production of fresh cosmetics as well as offer completely natural and holistic body therapies.

Join AJALI for a celebration-filled day and allow their skilled therapists to spoil you, while you shop, with relaxing spa treatments. AJALI will also be revealing their redesigned classic collection, brand new products and are giving away amazing prizes and goody bags.

This event is completely free but please RSVP here or via email (info@ajali.com.ng) to confirm your attendance.
