Hope everyone enjoyed the long Easter weekend! Before I get into this post, I'd like to say a big thank you to all you guys because lastweek BiL grossed 100k views!!! Thanks for reading and supporting my little space on the internet and here's to 100k more! :)
Just wanted to share with you guys an indigenous hair-care company and some of the goodies they sent me to review. Kinky Apothecary is the first kinky hair supply store in Lagos and they've currently got a concession in the newly opened Beauty-Bar at L'Espace.
The launch event for the beauty-bar comes up this Sunday, 7th of April, and I will be hosting the event at L'Espace. (More info in a post later on this week). So please pencil this in your diaries and come down to party with me, Beauty style ;).
Everything Kinky Apothecary sells has been tested for several months by the team behind the brand, so all their recommendations are based on personal experiences. To see all the products the offer, visit them at L'Espace.
A couple weeks ago I was sent some products to review. Now most of you know from my tweets (@BeautyInLagos on twitter), that I am on a personal Healthy Hair Journey this year. I have decided to care for my hair and get it nice and long and healthy.
This package was heaven-sent quite frankly, because it contains most of what I need.
Love these oils! Already added some Castor and Coconut oils into my homemade deep-conditioning treatment :). Oils are great for pre-shampoo (PrePoo) treatments. Heat them up a little, apply them to your scalp and length of hair, leave it on for anywhere between 30mins-2hrs and rinse out before you shampoo, condition etc. Oils can also be used to seal in your moisturiser.
I haven't had a chance to use all the products I was sent, althoug I have started on most of the oils. Was really excited to see Grapeseed oil in the package, been reading up on the hair-benefits of numerous oils and this helps with dry scalp and dandruff! Which I have been suffering from in recent times, I believe that using this along with my treatment shampoo and conditioner will alleviate the problem.

Just wanted to share with you guys a few products I am currently using on my hair to get it nice and healthy. This isn't everything and I've still got a couple more products to get, like a protein treatment and some hemp-seed oil (from Kinky Apothecary). But yeah, just wanted to share this.

The stand-out ingredient in this is Shea-Butter, and we all know the numerous benefits of this.

These guys were nice to you. Lovely post.
ReplyDeleteI know right!!! Thank you :)
DeleteI love your little Internet space, just don't stop all of a sudden:)
ReplyDeleteI just started Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner which I quite like, but Aussie is really good too, their moisture shampoo and conditioner. I have reduced the heat I use on my hair and it looks and feels so much healthier.
All your products are great but what's the black thing in the bag?
As for oils I only use avocado because it makes my hair really soft, I don't know why and once in a while I will use coconut.
To steam I use henna, Shea butter Mayo and honey(I do this at the salon) and it's great.
This is a great thing Kinky Apothecary is doing. I saw something similar on YouTube but I can't remember what it's called. Do you know if they deliver to Abuja?
Thanks.
Haha! I won't. The thing in the black bag is Marijuana 'weed'. I mix this in with my deep condtioner and some oil (coconut & grapeseed). Makes for a great deep-conditioning treatment.
DeleteI am sure they can arrange delivery to Abuja, just shoot them an email and they'll respond.
Thanks for reading :)
Wow!m def jealous of ur package sha,lol :)....anyways,started my hair care journey too dis year and its bin great no doubt!!can't rememba the last time I used any hot tools,nd I deep condition every week!!mostly with egg and mayo thou!as for shampooing,I use black soap cos most shampoos do strip hair of natural oils and black soap is just perfect!!I spritz my hair with water/glycerin mixture or Leave-in's,moisturize with water based moisturizers(Elasta Qp atm) den seal with castor oil/olive oil/coconut oil.....

Haha! I know, they were VERY generous with what they sent over :). I have heard about the benefits of black-soap. I have been looking for a water-based moisturizer! Thanks for that, definitley going to buy Elasta QP!
Deleteooooh, just had a look at the Naija Hair Can Grow blog, definitely going to order a few things off there. Love the store concept with the 'window' to place orders! Thanks for that recc.
It's not an epistle! Thanks for commenting :) xx
Hi Ez! Really love all your posts especially this one! Right now, im trying to really take care and pay attention to my hair. Really feel this info you gave helps. Quick question though (hope it isn't a weird one. lol). Where can i purchase the Marijuana 'weed' in lagos? Island to be specific. I heard its really good to use when steaming your hair. And do you know where I can get coconut oil/castor oil from? Like an actual physical store. Checked Ebeano and Casa bella. They don't have them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteI asked my hairdresser to buy the marijuana for me, your hairdresser should be able to help out. Kinky Apothecary sell both Coconut and Castor Oils.
Also a company called Vanity Oils also sell a variety of oils. Just search 'Vanity Oils' in the search box at the top right of this blog, for contact details xx
