Ez SKINCARE TIPS - Sudocrem

Hey Everyone,

First off, the Acrylic Makeup boxes by GlamBox are still available at 25% off. But the first 10 boxes have now been ordered, so no more complimentary acrylic tissue-boxes . They are available to buy on the 'Shop' tab of this blog, located along the top, just below the BiL banner :). Now that's out of the way, on to today's post.

Feel like it's been a while since I did one of these sort of posts. Well today's post is going to be a short one, it's about one of my Holy-Grail skincare products. And I know probably all of you would look at it and think "wait... WHAT?", but yeah this is an absolute must-have for me..

Yup! Sudocrem... Yes! The one for babies. I always say, if there is a skin-care product good enough for babies, it's damn well more than good enough for me. Because a baby's skin is so soft and delicate and any product formulated to care for it has got to be mild and gentle enough for the most sensitive of skins.

Even TOWIE-Girl, Chloe Simms uses Sudocrem [photo cred: Daily Mail Online]
Now back to this little 'tub-of-wonder' as I like to call it. I use it everynight before I get into bed, right after I have cleansed my face of makeup, washed and toned. I use this in place of a night-moisturizer 99% of time, the 1% would be when I have got extremly dry-skin (mostly due to flying), then I have to use an intense moisturiser overnight, a couple nights, to heal it.

My girl Tallulah, has got one of these Sudocrem tubes. I definitely need one, very handy.
Sudocrem doesn't heal pimples/acne or clear scars, well not for me anyway. It acts as a barrier and prevents new pimples/spots from forming while you're in la-la land. I apply a light layer every night and I wake up with nice soft, moisturised skin.

I also have to mention that you best be sure you are ready to go to bed before you apply this to your face, it's a bit of a 'struggle' to get off, even with water. But in the mornings it's a breeze to wash off.

Please please please, as with all skincare products (baby-care or not), always do a little patch test. I know we are all always eager to try out new skin products, but a patch-test save lives... LIVES I tell ya lol. (a patch test is simply applying a bit of the product to a little section of your face two days in a row, to check if your skin is fine with it and you don't react, before you apply all over face)

So there's a little personal skincare secret I have been sitting on and I love it! Even Cheryl Cole loves the stuff, check out this Daily Mail article from last year.

Any skincare secrets you lot are hiding? Please tell me! :)

PERSONAL TIPS: Face Wash

Hey Everyone,

So one of my MAJOR concerns, skincare-wise, about moving back was: Would I be able to repurchase the items I love to use as part of my skincare routine? I was so pleased when I slowly discovered that majority of them were available in Lagos.

Although, one thing the stores in Lagos do suffer from is something I like to call 'Here Today, Gone Tomorrow Syndrome'. You might see something in a store one week, go back a couple weeks later and it's not there. You'd think "Ok, it's just not in stock yet".... NOPE... It's just not stocked ANYMORE. And then you'd have to go searching for it all over again.

Case in Point: I went to the store I bought my Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash from in order to write-up this post, and it wasn't on the shelves. They did have other Neutrogena products in store, so I am keeping my fingers-crossed they'll be back in stock soon. Since I could not get the prices, my pricing listed at the bottom is more of a range, than an actual price.

Anyways on to the pictures

I use all four of these products on rotation within the week.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Scrub

I used to be faithful to the Clean&Clear exfoliating face wash, but I found the microbeads in it a little too 'scratchy' for me, so I switched to this. And I have no complaints so far. I use this 3times a week, or whenever I feel my face needs a good scrub

                   St Ives Warm Scrub

Also another exfoliant I use. As you rub this in you feel a warm sensation on your face,  which is quite nice. I switch back and forth between this and the Neutrogena within the week.

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser

I use this everynight once I've taken my makeup off with my 'baby-wipes&babyoil' combo.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash

This I use mornings I don't exfoliate. It's got a pump and the product comes out as foam which you just apply directly to wet face.I did not buy this here, but I did see it once in MedPlus pharmacy at The Palms.

PRICES AND WHERE YOU CAN BUY

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Scrub: Casa Bella at The Palms Shopping Mall - N1750 - 1950 (approx.)

Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser:  Casa Bella at The Palms Shopping Mall - N1560
St Ives Warm Scrub: Casa Bella, Health Plus, MedPlus and Shoprite at The Palms Shopping Mall - N850

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash: MedPlus at The Palms Shopping Mall

PERSONAL TIPS: Eye Make-Up Remover

One thing I was always concerned about was getting my makeup off. Yeah, there's all sorts of fancy makeup removers Shu Uemura, MAC wipes, Bobby Brown, but are they readily/easily available in Lagos? NO!

Foundation is pretty easy to get off, I mean wash your face and it's all gone... But eye makeup, now that is a different story... Throw in waterproof mascara and you have a situation!

During one of my numerous blog-surfing days, something hit me! Nearly all eye makeup removers are oil-based, unless they are specially formulated for sensitive skin or something. So I thought, why not just use a 'baby-oil and baby-wipe' combination to get my eye makeup off. Why baby stuff? I always say, if it's kind enough for BABIES skin, who the HELL am I to think it won't be perfect for mine.

Tada!!! Introducing my self-combined eye makeup remover!

Any old baby wipe would do, but brands like Johnson's and Pampers I'd recommend.

For the baby-oil I usually go with anyone. But one thing YOU MUST CHECK FOR is, make sure it's ok if some oil gets into your eyes, cos um... it would

Luckily for me, mine states it can be used as an eye makeup remover ^_^. Please always read the back. The Cussons one I had before clearly stated 'Avoid getting in contact with eyes'. So please make sure you check for this.

HOW TO USE

Take out a baby-wipe sheet from the pack, pour some baby oil unto it and apply to ur eyes. For me, it gets EVERYTHING off! If you've got waterproof Mascara on, use lots more baby-oil.

Baby wipes and Oil are typically sold in supermarkets and pharmacies all around Lagos. I got mine from Ebeano beauty-department.

Wipes: N350 (apprx)
Baby Oil: N150 (apprx)

Please please please let me know if you try this out. I'd really like to know how you get on!

Has anyone got any other makeup removal tips?
