LAGOS MAKEUP FAIR 4 | HAUL

Hiya Everyone,

Here with my LMUF4 haul, as promised. I did not go too crazy this time because 1.) I now officially have way too much makeup and 2.) I had a short list of specific items I wanted, and I got them!..... *goteeeeeeem*... sorry, I lack self-control sometimes lol

This was all I picked up, Glitter and Lipstick! Self-control and a tight list work wonders you see!

This year I was also invited down by BeautyRevNG to chill at their booth and have a little 'meet and greet'. Been meaning to say thanks to all you guys who stopped by to say Hi!... so THANK YOU! :)

BeautyRevNG Purchases

So remember when I mentioned in this post that I was obsessed with liquid lipsticks, it is now VERY official. I have something of a little collection going and I plan to share swatches really soon. I also noticed my collection only had darks, reds and brights in there and I wanted some neutral colours to wear like everyday.

Lime Crime Velvetine 'Bleached' - N6,500
Bleached is a lovely light-peach shade, dries matte and lasts a very long time. It also smells like ice-cream!

Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick 'Stone' - N6,500
I also wanted a 'rosey-mauve'-toned liquid lipstick and after seeing 'Stone' from the Dose of Colors' 'Terra Collection', I was on a haunt. Lucky for me, BeautyRevNG got it just in time for LMUF4 and since I was a 'guest' at their stand for the day, I snatched it up as soon as arrived!

Once I applied it, it was pure love!

Beauty Kink Purchases

I haven't got any loose glitter shadows in my collection. I hardly ever wear glitter on my eyes, but there's a few occasions that call for glitter... New Years', Birthdays,  BiL Directory Launch Party, etc. When I've got an event or some big occasion coming up, first thing I start to put together in my head is my makeup look. And knew I needed glitter on my eyes for my launch event and I was after a particular colour. When I saw Beauty Kink's instagram video of the new Eye Kandy glitters they had just received, I made a note to visit their stand at the fair.

They had the EXACT colour I was after. It's a silver base with multicoloured holographic glitter running through. I could not believe my luck!

Eye Kandy glitter in 'Confetti' - N2,500
If you were at the event and wondered what I had on my eyes it was some eyeshadow topped with this baby. Please note you will need to purchase some glitter glue to go with glitter eyeshadow, otherwise the glitter won't 'stick' to your lid. Glitter isn't loose pigment, which works with a spritz of some Fix+ on a brush. You will need glitter glue.

BH Cosmetics Gliiter Collection Loose Glitter - N2,000
Also purchased these  BH Cosmetics babies. The black glitter was intriguing and I thought it could add a little 'something' to a black smokey eye. And I have been after pure gold glitter for a while.

I was very pleased with my purchases this year, no regrets!

Did you attend LMUF4? What did you get?

ZARON - Haul

Hello Beauty-Lovers! It's the end of another work-week, TGIF!!

Over the past couple weeks I have made quite a few Zaron purchases. I went from not owning one product from this brand, to now having five items in my collection. For those that don't know, Zaron is one of our indigenous Makeup Brands (proud BuyNigerian Activist... HEEEYYY NOWWW! lol) and their stuff is actually not bad!

I made two separate purchases. I popped into the store to have  a look around and see if anything caught my eye, and bought a couple things. And then, within the SAME week dealdey.com had a 30% discount sale on selected Zaron products, so also got some stuff I had been eyeing in the store but wasn't sure if I wanted them (I definitely wanted them when they'd been marked down, hehe).

OMG if you don't know about Deal Dey, you definitely need to check them out. They host flash sales daily on items ranging from beauty, food, kitchen utensils to electronic, garden ware and package holidays. Its definitely worth signing up to! Kind of like GroupOn for my UK folk :)

Anyway so on to the pictures.....

Remember I said I made two separate purchases. One from the Zaron store (address and details provided at the end of this post) and another off Deal Dey.

I got the eyebrow and lip pencils from the store, the lipstick and eyeshadows off Deal Dey.

SWATCHES & REVIEW

Zaron Baked Eyeshadow Trio 'JZ03 Instant Stardom' - N800 (discounted price)

I went for this trio because its perfect for a light day-time look. And it's got all three colors in this cute little pot! I just couldn't resist! All the shadows are nice and smooth with a lustre finish. The do have some shimmer in them, but they're very subtle and only help give it a nice glow. The darkest shade in this pot is not pure dark-brown, it's actually a dark-brown with purple undertones,  but it compliments the other two colors really well.

Zaron Baked Eyeshadow Trio 'JZ03 Instant Stardom' - N800 (discounted price)

I was excited when I saw this pot was in the sale, because I was eyeing it in the store but couldn't really make up my mind about it, so I just let it go. What drew me to it was the red-terracotta shade in there, it's the perfect transition color for a subtle/heavy smokey-eye look, when applied just above the crease. Used this when I did my sisters' makeup for a wedding she had this past weekend, and I loved loved loved the finished look. Just like the other pot, same finish, nice and smooth and easy to blend. And the gold running down the middle is the exact same shade as the one in the 'Instant Stardom'.

I will say some of the shades aren't as pigmented as I would like, but its nothing a 'heavy-hand' can't correct :). I am happy with these and will recommend them to anyone that's after some easily-portable, decent-quality shadows.

Zaron 'Tinky Winky' Lipstick - N1000 (discounted price)

Now this was my least favorite of the bunch. 1.) The name of this lipstick is quite misleading, when I saw the image and name of this lipstick, I was expecting a nice beige/pink-nude shade. But what I got was bright deep-pink with purple undertones. Ok, I thought, the shade is unique, I haven't seen anything quite like it and THEN 2.) It is very dry and drying on the lips. It drags on the lips when I apply it, I did wear some lip balm on my lips and tried again, but I still didn't like the texture much. I applied some clear lipgloss over it and that did the trick for me. I personally don't particularly like matte lipsticks, I prefer my lipsticks to be smooth and hydrating with a little gloss to them, so they just glide on when applied. So it might just be down to my personal preference.

(L-R) Zaron 'EZ09 Brownie' Eyebrow Pencil & 'EZ04 Prune Juice' Lip Liner Pencil - N750 each

(L-R) 'Brownie' & 'Prune Juice'

I got the 'Prune Juice' simply because Dimma used it in her Youtube Makeup Tutorial and I loved it! Happy I got it, its a nice deep-purple liner and actually works perfectly with 'Tinky Winky'.

'Brownie' is actually an eyebrow pencil, but I got it to use as an eyeliner. I prefer (especially in the day) dark brown liners applied in my waterline and lower lash line, because I find it gives my eyes a softer look, while black liners give me a 'severe' look and even makes my eyes appear smaller, if that makes sense.  Black works better when I'm doing a heavy look on the eyes, because I apply it in my waterline and also work it down to my lower lash line. Whereas in the day, I like to keep my lower liners just in my waterline, so black doesn't really work this way for me, browns are much better.

There you have it! My first Zaron purchases and overall I am happy with my items, sans the lipstick.

So tell me, what products are you loving from Zaron lately?

Haul Post - Lagos Makeup Fair

Hi Everyone!
So, as promised, I got a few items from the LMUF last weekend and I did say I was gonna share with you all what I got. So enjoy!

First item I got was from Sacred.

It's a MAC PlushGlass lipgloss called 'Butterfly Dream' and it's  not opaque at all.

You can see the shimmer in this picture
In fact I'll describe it as a sheer purple gloss with blue, purple and silver shimmer running through it. I do notice a little sheen of color when it's on my lips. But for the most part it's really sheer but very glossy. Oh, not sure you guys know this but the 'Plush Glass' formula glosses from MAC are actually 'plumping glosses'. That is they plump up your lip to make them appear fuller. So this lipgloss does sting a little like all other plumping glosses.

The 'Plush Glass' formula is really just to give a high-shine glossy effect. I just wanted a gloss I can wear when I don't feel like wearing color on my lips, but still want it to look like 'interesting'.. Can't really explain it.

BarryM Cosmestics!!!

BarryM Cosmetics Nail Polish "Matte White 66': N960

So last week was the MTV VMAs and I noticed Rihanna's toenails on the red carpet were White! I thought, I need me some white toenails too. So this was just perfect, got myself a nail polish from BarryM called 'Matt White', and it's a true-white color. I hate when white nail-polish isn't white-white!

BarryM Lipstick '153': N1860
The Lipstick color is number '153' and it's a nice coral-pink. This so weird because the other day I was after a Coral lipstick (even tweeted about it) and I found THIS at the fair... FATE! The texture is like the typical BarryM creamy and the color payoff is awesome. Very opaque. Can't type a proper review till I've used it for a few weeks.

Vendor: Monade Skincare
Brand: BarryM
Office Address: Shop 020 Abeni Shopping Plaza II

So, funny story. I love using NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils as a base for my eyeshadows. I feel they really make my eyeshadow pop. I've got the white jumbo pencil (Milk) and the black (Black Bean). I use the white one when I'm going for a bridal-esque look and the black is a perfect base when I want to do a smokey eye. SO BACK TO MY STORY, I saw the pens and thought "yay more jumbo pencils for me". Picked the colors I wanted, paid for them, got home to take pictures for this post and noticed that they are actually infact LIP PENCILS! Jumbo LIP Pencils. I got the wrong ones!! hahahah!. In all my excitement, I forgot to actually CHECK what I was getting. But you know what? I'm still going to use them on my eyes.

I got three pencils.

NYX Jumbo Lip Pencils '703 Pink Nude' & '708 Iced Mocha': N1800 each

They would work as eyeshadow bases, don't you think? Who would wear such colors on their lips anyway (totally trying to convince myself here. work with me! lol)

NYX Long Pencil Lip 'LPL18 Pinky': N1800
The lip pencil is a gorgeous really bright deep-pink! Very bold color. It reminds me of MAC's 'Girl About Town' Lipstick.

Vendor: Gifty's Daughter Beauty Attrium
Brand: NYX
Addresses: 6, Khana Street
                  D/Line, Port Harcourt
                  Rivers State.

                  Suite A7 Galleria Shopping
                  Complex, INEC Road,
                  Yenagoa, Bayelsa State
Telephone: +234 803 336 8927 & +234 805 165 4105

(Typing this address up for the NYX vendor I'm like "OMG THEY ARE NOT IN LAGOS!!!! WHYYYYYY!". Like seriously? In London I have to order it online and then in Lagos I'm gonna have to get them to deliver as well. NYX, Y U NO LIKE ME?)

And now for the Pièce De Résistance !

I got an acrylic stand! In Lagos, yes!

Its got four levels and three cylinder-like holes running up one side.

It was really weird, my girl was talking to the lady at the stand telling her about my makeup acrylic drawers. Showing her pictures and asking if she had anything similar. And the lady explained to us that why she doesn't bring a lot of these acrylic stands in is because they are very fragile and always break.

Acrylic Stand: N3500
And I totally understood her, because the way I got mine safely to Lagos was I put them in my pull-man. Like that was ALL I had in my little suitcase, I sacrificed my laptop, some powder makeup and a bunch of other stuff for those drawers to make it to Lagos safely. Ridiculous.

Soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to use it for. A stand for my nailpolish. This did not take up all my polish, so I'm going to buy another. My friends also go one each and they're using theirs for their makeup and brushes. I'll take a picture of theirs and write up a little post on it to give you guys more ideas on what to do with the stand.

Unfortunately I haven't got any contact details for this vendor yet, but Mo' got her number so I'll get that off her and update this post with them. This Vendor had other acrylic stands, there was one with little holes for lipsticks (think you can see that in my sneak peak photo in the other LMUF post)

UPDATE!! Vendor Details!

Vendor: Hegai & Esther Makeup solutions

Address: 25, Akinsanya street, Taiwo bus stop Ojodu Berger

Telephone Numbers08128145774, 08066740850, 08035806183

Facebook Page: Hegai Esther Makeup Solutions

So that's all I got from the Fair. I haven't used any of the makeup yet ( I just got them), so can't do a proper review. I will have up reviews in a couple weeks, let you all know how I get on! Hope you guys enjoyed looking at what I got. Let me know what you  got if you attended the fair and also please tell me if you contact/visit any of these vendors, I wanna know what you get (nosey..lol)

What do you think about the LMUF? 'Waste of Time' or 'Awesome Concept'?

Haul - MegaCare

This is a little something I'd like to add to the blog. I thought i should separate my 'Lagos Discoveries' from my 'Purchases'. I'll tell you all about my discoveries in one post and then show you stuff I get from them in another. But I will never show you stuff from a store I haven't blogged about yet? Got it? Ok

So here is my first ever solo HAUL post! *excited* I'd rather call it a mini-haul to be honest lol

This is the reason I went in search of Megacare in the first place. Well, not this particular brand but  Gilette Venus Divine Goddess Shaving Gel. I cannot seem to find this anywhere in Lagos and also could not seem to find a suitable replacement either. Until now!

I honestly do not know if this is for guys or ladies, it does have a faint 'zing-y' smell that men's shaving stuff usually have. It's not overpowering at all, and you only get a whiff of it suddenly... and then it's gone. lol. Or it might just be my paranoia.

Now THIS! This is what I was excited to get. My friend has got the most perfectly filled-in eyebrows and I asked her what she used randomly one day. She said 'Spiked' by MAC. I personally don't have to do much to my brows, except thread them. I have got the odd space here and there and I usually fill mine in with some eyeshadow using a slanted brush and set with brow gel.

I have seen quite a few reviews of this product in the beauty blogosphere and after seeing them in action on my friend. I thought.. why not! So far, no regrets! :). But I still prefer my method, or maybe I just need to get used to this.

So there's my first haul. Let me know if you guys would be interested in more posts like this. Also let me know if you ever visit Megacare and tell me what you got! Till next time
