LAGOS MAKEUP FAIR 2 - HAUL

Hiya Everyone!! Hope you are all well.

Just wanted to share with you guys items I picked up at the fair. I didn't go too crazy for once. lol

This was all I got! See, I exercised self-control *pats self on back*

This stand I made a bee-line for, as soon as I got into the venue I started looking around for them. I discovered them on Instagram (@devapetals) and I knew immediately what I wanted to get.

Deva Petals Head2Toe Body Butter in Almond Milk - N4000
It's made from 100% raw sheabutter and  has got some fragrance and oils added in. They had a variety of body-butters on display, I went for 'Almond Milk'. This has replaced my moisturizer, it is so soft, melts right into the skin and leaves mine feeling hydrated all day long. I love the scent, at first, it can be a little overpowering but it fades after 3-4mins. I will be repurchasing this, as soon as I figure out how to, as this company is based in Abuja.

Milani Blushes - N800 each
I did a little jig when I saw these Milani items on display! I have been meaning to get my paws on their blushers. One of my absolute FAVOURITE Youtubers, Nicole, has a video up of how she stores her makeup and there was a drawer she opened that was packed full of Milani blushes. And I thought 'ooh the packaging looks soo good, I need it!' Yup, it was the packaging that got me *hangs head*. Oh and if Nicole likes them that much, then they must be good! So I picked up some blushes

All have got really good pigmentation! Been using them the past few weeks, and I haven't got any complaints :). I got this from the Makeup Maven stand

You KNOW I cannot go to LMUF and not stop by the stand that had my heart at the last Fair, Gifty's Daughter. They were there in all their fully-stocked-NYX-stand glory!! I only picked up two items and got a free gift! :)

I picked up another Jumbo Eye Pencil. This one is 'Mocha'. I honestly love these jumbo pencils from NYX, they act as a really great base for my eyeshadows and make them just pop! I took extra caution this time, didn't want to have a repeat of last year. Oh, little update on that, I threw those away :(

I picked this up because I'd been after a synthetic brush for quite some time. I will use this to blend my eyeshadow primers and any cream-based eye product, as synthetic brushes are best for applying those. This is double-ended, so I get even more use out of it.

I got this as a gift!! They are called Shadow Shields and are used to protect your under-eye area from eyeshadow fallout.

You know when you use some loose pigment shadows, or even pressed eyeshadows, and the flyaway bits just sit under your eye. These will help to catch them, and you simply just peel them off when you're done.

I am yet to use mine and will let you know how I get on once I do :)

E.L.F. Studio 11 Piece Brush Collection - N6500

Now, I have been meaning to try out some brushes from E.L.F. and I immediately jumped at these when I saw them.

Good New, there's 11 brushes in the set. Bad News is, I do not for the life of me remember what stand I picked this up from. I think I got the lady's card and I will look around for it and update this post when I find it.

So that's it! All the stuff I got from LMUF2. This year's was so much bigger than the last and the venue was really well-ventilated and spacious. My only regret was I didn't get to spend enough time as I wanted to wandering around, because I brought my friend along and she had an engagement to get back to on the island, so we had to leave a little early. But it was so much fun nonetheless, got to meet a few bloggers too!

Speak to you all soon!

GIFTY'S DAUGHTER - Haul

Hey Guys,

Sorry it's taken me a week to type-up this post, but I have been extremely swamped at work.

Anyway on to today's post which is a continuation from my last, sharing with you the items I picked up from the Gifty's Daughter store and a little review on one or two of the items, haven't really got round to using these properly yet.

I didn't really go too crazy in the store, all I was really after was the Z-palette, everything else was just sort of an impulse-buy.

Alcone Professional Makeup Sponges. Price: will be updated
These are just the basic wedge sponges that can be used to apply both powder and liquid makeup. I got these to try out with my Ben Nye Banana Powder (BNBP). I don't know guys, I am still trying to figure the best technique for applying my BNBP! I know I will eventually figure it out (hopefully). But you should all be used to it by now. I come on here, moan about something, about how "I don't like it", "it doesn't work for me", "I dont see what all the fuss is about". And then a few months down the line, I come back to report that same products is the dog's wotsits. So yeah... moving on

Price: to be updated

Now this little metal slab. Metal slab is what I have chosen to call it, as I am no professional and do not know what it is called and cannot be arsed to Google it at this point. So if you know the actual name of this, please feel free to let me know in the comments. So anyway, this I got mainly to mix my liquid makeup products together. When I am heading to an event or wedding I like my skin to have a glow without looking dewy. So I mix in a few drops of my MAC Lustre Drops in with my foundation, MAC Studio Fix, and this gives me just the right amount of glow. So rather than doing the mixing on the back of my hand ( VERY hygienic Ez), I will be doing that on this. I'm sure I will also discover a few more things to use this for.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in 'Istanbul'. Price: to be updated
I need to be smacked round the head honestly. I do not quite understand why I got this lip cream. 1.) I hate lip creams, prefer glosses 2.) I hate Matte lip products. So please tell me why I got this :s.
After using this a few times, I don't completely hate it but I'm not gonna be raving about it. I guess it's the addict in me, I just had to try it. I was actually after  NYX's 'Sugar Pie' lipgloss, but they did not have that, so I went for this instead. *hangs head*

Ben Nye Glitter Glue. Price: to be updated
This I got to use with glitter and chunky loose pigment eye products. And also because Dimma (thatigbochick.com) got it and used it in one of her tutorials. I am shameless.

Z-Palette.  Price: to be updated
And finally, the reason behind my visit to the store. I will do a short detailed post on this item. It is basically a makeup palette, that can be used to store all your products in one place. The base of this palette is magnetic so your eyeshadow, blushers, etc. just stick straight on. There are some Z-Palettes that come with the individual magnets, Gifty's Daughter had these variation in stock too. Like I said, I will provide more details on what I depotted  into this palette and how it's held-up in another post. In the meantime you can get more info about this by engaging in some 'google-action'.

And there you have it people! The items I bought during my visit to the Gifty's Daughter store. Hope you enjoyed this post. If you've got any questions about any of the products ask me in the comments section.

Oh and I am DELIGHTED to report..............

Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens Kit
My Baby arrived!! If you follow me on Instagram (@BeautyInLagos), this is probably old news to you. But I wanted to share with all you guys on here too! So now, all I have to do is figure out how it works and bring you better quality images. I am hoping this will be the start of  FOTD, OOTD type posts and probably some Youtube tutorials too :).

Oh and if you don't follow me on Instagram, you might want to do so now! I am having a giveaway in conjunction with SweetKiwi from tomorrow! We are giving away more Frozen Yoghurt, so get in where you can!

So what Makeup Items have you picked up recently?

GIFTY'S DAUGHTER - Beauty Store

Hiya Guys!

My first encounter with Gifty's Daughter was at the first LMUF (see post here). As soon as I saw the NYX stand all the way in the far corner, I dropped everything and made a beeline for their stand and it has been pure love ever since. But the difficulty for me was, they were based in PortHarcourt. Imagine my glee when I discovered they had launched a store in Lagos too!

So a few weeks ago I visited the Gifty's Daughter store! This visit had been on my to-do list for a while, and without even realizing it, I had actually been to the store before it opened. A friend had read my blogpost about the Ben Nye Banana Powder (this one) and mentioned she'd been to a store in Ikeja that sold a variety of shades of the powder, but that it seemed like a new store, because they were kind of still setting things up in there. Nonetheless, I asked her for directions to it, and with my iPhone map at the ready I headed down to the store, only to find it shut.

It was when I read Dimma's post (thatigbochick.com) about her visit to the store and the description of its location that it clicked! THAT was the Gifty's Daughter store I went to! So random. So anyway, I went back again and this time they were open and I had a good look around and even picked up a few things. I will share my haul in a post tomorrow, but today I just want to share with you guys a few pictures I took while I was in the store. Enjoy!

Address
Gifty's Daughter
25A Toyin Street,
Ikeja, Lagos

Please excuse my tiny images. I shall be getting my paws on my new DSLR next month (August). So expect much sharper, clearer, higher-resolution images on BiL! *excited*

I really love how Lagos is changing rapidly, a few years ago we could only dream of finding a Z-palette in Lagos, let alone OCC LipTars or even a MAC STORE! I don't know about you guys, but I am loving all these beauty-stores popping up, they really excite me!

What beauty-stores have you discovered tucked-away in Lagos?
